The wheels of time..97 days to go for the big day.


I know that there has been another huge gap in between the posts. Kinda got stuck in the vortex below. Was suffering from one of them mood swings.
Work is going well. Just got our NPAT results and we have made an awesome $3.688 Bn. So all good at the bank, happy smiling faces. Expected pay rise has rolled through.
Was having a very interesting discussion topic at work. It was on the very famous Aussie slang.
So here is a guide to what we are actually trying to tell you....
A few Kangaroos loose in the top paddock- someone who is mentally 'not quite there, also picnic short of a sandwich , lights are on but nobody is home, etc.
Abso-bloody-lutely- absolutely and beyond any doubt.
Cactus- something has had it, doesn't work anymore, or someone in a lot of trouble.
Call it a day - finish up and stop work
Cark it - to die
Dead cert - a certainty beyond doubt, a sure winner, especially when referring to horse or dog races.
Dead horse- tomato sauce
Earbash - to chatter or talk incessantly to the point of boring or nagging
Easy on - a request for someone to calm down in a heated moment.
Egg on - to encourage someone or to persuade someone to do something they are not anxious to do.
Elbow grease - implies hard work or effort, as if one was using up the grease in ones elbow.
Empties - empty beer bottles
Fair crack of the whip - to give some one an equal opportunity or equitable treatment. Also use "fair go".Fair go mate!
Fed up to the back teeth - use to signify someone is disgusted and/or has lost patience with someone/something/a situation.
Fire away - used to tell someone to begin speaking, usually to begin speaking their mind.
Five finger discount - shoplifting, store theft.
Get nicked - an exclamation of contempt, or to get caught in the act.
Lead foot - a fast and reckless driver.
To put something on the never never - to put something on credit.
Rack off- go away, used when very angry with someone.
Ratbag - a contemptible or obnoxious or untrustworthy person, on the eccentric side, who behaves improperly, or any combination of the above.
Rellies - short for relatives.
Sanger or sanga - a sandwich
Ta - thank you
Tailgate - to drive too closely to the vehicle in front of you.
Take away food - food that you take home to eat
Uni - contraction of university.
Up a gum tree - confused, in a quandary about a problem
Up yourself - having a large ego.
Ute - a utility vehicle
Underground mutton - rabbit
Yabber - to talk too much
To yarn - to have a talk or discussion with someone.
Yobbo - an uncouth person.
Yonks - a long time, ages
Quack - a doctor, especially a bad one
Hen fruit - eggs, see also goog
I'm easy - not worried, not concerned, or has no preference to the outcome of a choice.
In a tic - in a moment, very shortly.
In the bag - a forgone conclusion that the "job" is as good as done, the "competition" is as good as won, etc.
So go ahead and put another shrimp on the barbie mate.
